Home Library Service

Are you unable to come to the library or carry books home due to age, illness or disability? If so, the Home Library Service can help you.

The library provides this free home delivery service to the people of Armidale. Deliveries are made fortnightly or monthly depending on your needs.

Home Library staff interview applicants to assess eligibility and determine which service suits the needs of the client.

Full-time carers of housebound members are also eligible for the service.

You can request & borrow:

  • Fiction and non-fiction items
  • Large print books
  • Talking books on CD, mp3 CD & cassette
  • Audio Read Navigators and Daisy Players
  • CDs of popular and classical music
  • DVDs such as movies, musicals, documentaries and TV series
  • Magazines
  • Specific titles and authors
  • Items in languages other than English

Home Library Service staff will search for specific information on behalf of customers such as:

  • Other community services
  • Personal interest topics
  • Hobbies and crafts
  • Legal information
  • Medical information
  • Local history

If you require reference or information services it is recommended you phone the Home Library Service Coordinator and talk about your needs.

A library staff member will discuss your interests and arrange for your delivery day. Armidale Dumaresq Council War Memorial Library will ensure that the confidentiality of Home Library members is maintained at all times.
