Writing Competition: ‘Six of the Best’, entries close 31 July 2017

It is said that Ernest Hemingway took up a challenge to write a short story in 6 words.

This is what he created on the back of a beer mat:

FOR SALE: BABY SHOES, NEVER WORN.

 

To celebrate Armidale’s new library we challenge you to create a short story in 6 words.

 

Entry forms are available only at the front desk of the library.

So come in, have a look around and pick up your entry form!

When completed return your entry to the red box on the desk at the library.

 

RULES:

  • No Title
  • No contractions
  • No text speak or emojis
  • No figures
  • Six words only
  • Appropriate punctuation allowed

 

Competition opens on the 1st July and closes on 31st July.

Book vouchers from Readers Companion will be awarded to the winner and 2 runners up.

Winners announced Monday September 11th 2017.
