Armidale library reveals the evolving library to Students at Youth Expo

On March 17 2016 Library staff from  the Armidale Dumaresq Council War Memorial Library attended the The Youth Opportunities Expo at Lazenby Hall at UNE .The Youth Opportunities Expo (YOE) was a combined community initiative that aimed to expand the knowledge young people have of resources, services and organisations in our community; in short the OPPORTUNITIES.
Young people, parents, carers and support people were encouraged to attend the Expo to see and experience the extensive range of services, groups, organisations and opportunities that are available in Armidale focusing on education, employment, health, welfare and wellbeing.

The Library stall presented the evolving world of the public library, demonstrating how libraries have moved from an analogue, paper based workplace to a locus of community participation where events and a range of resources including online and digital resources are there for our community’s entertainment and enlightenment.

The stall showed students that our library’s vision of a vibrant, generous public space for the whole community makes us a fascinating employment opportunity.
