Digitising the world

Major libraries across the world are involved in projects digitising material in their collections. Two projects are worth highlighting.

The National Library of Australia is working on digitising all the newspapers published in Australia. This exciting project also uses the public to help edit the text extracted from the images. You can see what they are up to by accessing the National Library Website or going directly to the Digitised Newspaper search.

The British Library has commenced digitising its manuscipt collection which includes documents that are 1000 years old. Have a look at their work at Digitsed Manuscripts
