You can access Standards Australia from within our library.
Standards Australia is recognised by the Australian government as the organisation that establishes standards for products and services in Australia. It is an independent, not-for-profit, non government organisation. As their website indicates standards are important for “managing risk, achieving compliance and driving business improvement.” More importantly “Australian standards are published documents setting out specifications and procedures designed to ensure products, services and systems are safe, reliable and consistently perform the way they are intended to. They establish a minimum set of requirements which define quality and safety criteria” and almost “a third of all Australian Standards form some part of Territory, State or Federal law. They are at the heart of the Australian Building Code and the Trade Practices Act.”
Normally, if you need to access to one of the published standards from Standards Australia, you need to purchase a copy.
But, the library has licenced access to the online versions of those standards and you can read standards in the library, using the public access PCs. Library staff are also available to help you locate and print sections of the standards you require for your business activity.
Printing from Standards Australia is not available from your home computer or via WiFi in the library.
